PUMPED!! I totally forgot, but the Archers of Loaf album Vee Vee is released today. A kick ass album from the 90s, produced and remastered by the mighty Bob Weston (Sebadoh, Chavez, Eric's Trip). I am pretty fucking excited.
While making dinner last night, a bunch of Illuminati tunes came on the Mighty Dwarf. We started talking a bit about how fucking awesome they are, and how fun it was seeing them back in the Fanshawe days. To this day On Borrowed Time and their debut EP have a serious special place in my heart. Some of the best, rockin, catchiest, and most fun tunes ever.
Man. Today it hit me how fucking incredible the iPod is. Over 24000 songs...right in your pocket. It really blows my mind when I really think about it. I might sleep with it tonight.
Tony sent me a couple of cool pics last night that were made with yet another wicked iPhone app. I had to buy it myself and see what it could do. Pretty cool effect, especially on the one of Laura in Croatia.
I tried my hand at making pulled pork yesterday. Turned out pretty good, although I miscalculated and added maybe a bit too much salt. Next time I'll get it right I am sure.
I watched this documentary last night on Netflix. Its about the black metal scene in Norway, and all the church burnings, suicides, and murders that came along with it. Its pretty intense in parts, but really well done. I have read a lot of people bitching that it was slow, but I really dug the way it was done. Check it out!
Imperial Teen have a new album out, and I still have yet to pick it up. I hope its good, but I was really not a big fan of their last album. Their first 3 records are pretty fucking killer though. My love of Faith No More and Roddy Bottom means I am obliged to give it a chance.
I think its time that I dig up my Rock N Roll Nightmare dvd, and crack a couple Slees, and have a blast. This is one of my all time favourite bad movies. It stars the mighty Canadian legend Thor, and is so painfully bad that its beyond fun.
We watched this last night on Netflix. Other than some problems I had with parts of the ending, its pretty fucking great. A drunken Slovanian swimming 100km a day for 2 months.
I remember Orso had some killer shelves for his vinyl collection so we took a trip to Ikea and I picked up this fucker. Now the hard part....getting all my records from my parents basement. I will have to pick up a tube of Bengay on the way home.
Our new house is coming along nicely. I truly hate moving. Its painful, sweaty, gross, and annoying. I also take way too long to get used to a new place. So far though, I think I will end up loving it there. 400 bucks rent, how can I complain?
I just got back from my beloved Encore Records and picked up the new Van Halen disc. I decided to not let the sour taste of Tattoo Tattoo ruin the album for me, so I avoided the pre download, and did the old Tuesday first listen. Right off the bat I dig the artwork, and I dig the EVH riffage. Its painfully hard not to love his guitar. But we will see over time how this stacks up to the other Halen records.
I finally got around to packing up two of the posters I made to send off Ohio way. I was asked if I could send one that would be given to Pollard, as well as having one on the walls of Rockathon Records.
Thanks to GBVH for sending me these. I was terrified when the new GBV albums were coming out that they would not stick to their old font. Thankfully the GBV font is back. I sleep easy at night now.
The house we are renting is now officially ours. Bones moved in all of his things into a massive pile because his place was being rented the same day he was moving out. Once he is all set up, Laura and I will start bringing in all of our shit. All should be done by Sunday, if all goes well.
