Both screens are now made and I am ready to print a bunch off tonight. Pretty damn pumped! Might even try to sell some of these fuckers online. There seems to be a niche for these kinds of posters, and I think I might give it a shot. Extra couple of bucks cant hurt.

Acetate sheet of my new print, resting on top of my old I Spit On Your Grave test print. Getting an idea of what the red ink will look like under the black. |
During the new years party at the Serpentine Pad, a couple people went to the basement to jam out some GBV tunes...or at least tried to.

I made some test prints, but I am noticing it is damn near impossible to line up the two colour designs just by eye. I think I am going to have to bust out the measuring tape and mark on the paper where the screen should go before I print. Hopefully this method will work fine. Off to get some paper!
I got some of the black printing done. I might go buy some more paper today and do a bunch more before I get the red print going. I hope it turns out well.
I tried to make some screens last night, but I fucked up bad. I think the year old photo emulsion isn't going to work. Going to buy some more at lunch. Second times a charm,
Man...I am surprised it took this long for a video like this to get made, but I am glad it was the fine folks at Portlandia that did it. Thank you for saying what needed to be said.
The ride home in the Conklin Car was beyond freezing. A minor downside of not having a properly working heater. Whats worse is that I had no gloves at all....but I did have a spare pair of socks in the back seat!
I have my graphics printed and ready to go for this two colour print. The left image will be black, and the right will be printed red. Hope to make screens either tonight or tomorrow....trivia tonight might get in the way.
I am using the unused kitchen in the basement as my little work shop. Tunes and beerce and inks. |
I am looking to start screen printing again. I want to start designing and printing my own horror movie posters. I did this quick mock up today as a possible poster. I am not even the biggest fan of this movie, but that title is too great. I think I have my sights set on doing a poster for Fulci's ZOMBIE film.
The Christmas present Ned and Michelle got me finally came in the mail, and came in the form of a Cribs shirt. Fkn love it.
I found this dude on eBay who was selling a butt-load of old 35mm trailer prints of horror movies. I got the Leatherface trailer for 10 bucks! He was also selling the original 1974 print of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, as well as the Torso trailer. Two of my faves. They were 80 bucks each though, and it was too rich for my blood. Leatherface is one of the best trailers in my opinion. Its pretty much a rip off of the classic Jason Takes Manhattan trailer, but maybe thats why I love it.
Here is the Leatherface trailer. ...and here is the very similar Friday The 13th Part VIII trailer.

Can't believe they played this. Dave Grohl pumps me up....as does this tune.
The Cribs just posted a link for their new video for Leather Jacket Love Song. As a video guy, I am fucking blown away by this music video. The way they cut footage of them young and old together is unreal. Love it.
Man....why wasnt this around when I was living in London? This company called Vagrancy Films puts on monthly "Grindhouse" screenings of classic horror and cult films. With trailers and all. I hope they still do this, cuz I am more than willing to drive the hour to check it out.

Dale Crover showed up to a rock school, and sat on the drums for a Melvins song. Too awesome.
The fine folks at Bad Lip Reading managed the impossible, they made football entertaining.
HOLY MAN! Did I ever have fun last night watching The Basement in the basement. I bought this DVD/VHS set from Cinema One a couple weeks ago, and I am so glad I did. This is a collection of super cheesy horror flicks from the 80s, one of which, The Basement, has just been released now for the first time. Its by the same people who made the classic Ghoul School, so I knew I would be in for some laughs. This movie is painfully awesome, shot on 8mm, cheesy and hilarious. Great times.
I also spent some more time in the basement this weekend with these classics.
Fk I love my horror flicks....
