I got around to using up some of my birthday gift certificate at Encore this past Friday. I scored big time with the new Ty Segall, the reissue of Let It Be by the Replacements, as well as two GBV gems.
Encore Chris is now a massive Pollard obsessed fan, so thankfully he was up on the Pollard stock around town. He let me know that X Disc C still had a copy of Half Smiles, new, in the plastic!

I was contacted by the folks at Rendezvous down in LA, asking if I could help out with a new logo animation. They wanted it to be just like the old Intervision logo from the 80s, but with their name on it.
Good old pal Treephones knocked on our door last night to drop off an xmas/bday gift that finally arrived in the mail. I was so stoked to see it was a wicked GBV screenprint, but I was even more excited when I realized it was for the Pittsburgh show that we all went to!
I started a mini film marathon of 80s sex comedies. I started with the Cannon Films classic The Last American Virgin, which I had never seen before. It really was one of the better films of the genre that I have seen. The ending is something that you just dont see in movies, and it was pretty shocking and awesome.
We then watched Better Off Dead, some John Cusak film from the mid 80s, yet another movie I have never seen or herd of. This movie was really quite weird, and I think I liked it? So many out there scenes which made it fun, but nothing was as good as this hamburger that songs Everybody Wants Some while wailing on Eddie Van Halens guitar. You herd that right.
I have a double header lined up tonight with Three O Clock High (top 10 80s flicks for me), as well as Secret of My Success.
My Boognish slipmat finally arrived after a month in christmas time shipping limbo. It looks pretty bad ass. I am no longer upset about buying the blue coloured record player.

This xmas break was super relaxing. I had the yearly all night movie marathon on Xmas Eve, hit the folks for Xmas dinner, and then had a backyard firepit on xmas day. All in all a great holiday break.
Thanks to Sarah and Tony, I got my hands on a bad ass iPhone 5s. I had my iPhone 4 since the day it came out, and it was pretty much a brick as of last month. Everything ran slow, apps hardly worked, and the lock button no longer worked thanks to the great beer spill at Foo Fighters.
I kept playing with this camera and was blown away by how crisp the images are. I was exited to see how great the video is, with 1080p and hand stabilization. I kept taking footage throughout the holiday break, so today I just cut this little video together.
