I liked the image of the apes on the ground, and then I wanted to make a 2001: A Space Odyssy inspired poster. Then I needed to make a monolith, and the only image I could think of using from the National Geographic images I found, was that of the Twin Towers. Naming it 2001 is way too on the nose, so I wont give it a name at all.
I assume I will be bored of this collage shit by next week.
We just finished watching the amazing Stranger Things, and I LOVED it. Shocking, I know. I had some time to kill so I did this VHS cover for the season one tape that I will eventually make.
Credit goes to THE SONNYFIVE for his awesome text treatment on the spine and back of the cover.
I found some cool National Geographic images online from this great tumblr account. I tried my hand at doing some collage work, via Photoshop. Pretty fun.
I picked up the new Black Mountain album this week, and I am in love with the album art.
Turns out the band member that did this cover art, also did the two Zombi covers that I love. I read an interview with him where he points out his use of old National Geographic images, as well as other sources from the 70s. I always wanted to try to create such a cover as I love the look of this style, so I took a couple random Google images of NG photos, and played around in Photoshop.

In my last year of college at Funshawe Cottage, Ryan lent me his copy of El Topo and told me to watch it. I had that DVD for months and never got around to watching past the first 10 minutes. After watching Holy Mountain this past Friday, which I loved, I am pretty stoked to hit the Apollos tonight for El Topo. Should be madness.
Laura hit up Windsor this past weekend, but I decided to stay home because I had to drop 600 bucks on new car breaks. Also, I am burnt out for all of these weekend cottage trips (first world problem, I know). With the broken AC, I decided to hit up Holy Mountain at Apollo. I always tried to watch this movie but its pretty hard to sit through when in a living room with an iPad on my chest. Seeing it at Apollo forced me to watch it, and I am glad I did. Its pretty great. El Topo is this Thursday.
I hit up some video stores and picked up a couple 1 buck gems, and I scored the reissue of Live Through This at Encore. The AC was fixed on Saturday (apparently we just had to turn the furnace on with the breaker.....facepalm), so it was finally cool in the house. I passed out by 9:30, and was FINALLY able to sleep in my bed.
Poor Hesher was ROASTING in the heat. Our house hit 32 on the main floor and it was unbearable. I picked up this cooling gel pad for my little buddy. |
Been looking for these for a while! 1 buck for the two of them. |
We had a steak night, but it just so happened that the neighbours had a jerk chicken night. They were nice enough to give us a pice each, and holy crap was it ever good. |
Our AC has been busted for a solid week now, which is really great when a heat wave hits at the exact same time. Its pretty unbearable being inside the house, so we have to cool down on our patio at night. Seriously debating sleeping on there, if it wasn't for the racoons and skunks. Although at this point I would risk that than the ball stinkingly hot heat of our house.
"Im sure its just the thermostat....I'll buy your band a few twelve packs"
