GBV is throwing a little contest this week where you create your own interpretation of a cover for SWPF using their graphic element. Here is what I ended up with.
Eddie has another album out today, and he needed an album cover. I was short on time, so I took some back cover album art that I made previously, but went unused, and repurposed it.
Eddie has been uploading some singles from his classic band The Wuxis. Check out the website HERE and see some of the album art I have created for him.
I picked up the new Black Mountain album this week, and I am in love with the album art.
Turns out the band member that did this cover art, also did the two Zombi covers that I love. I read an interview with him where he points out his use of old National Geographic images, as well as other sources from the 70s. I always wanted to try to create such a cover as I love the look of this style, so I took a couple random Google images of NG photos, and played around in Photoshop.

Below are the three images I used to create this. I think I need to now keep my eye open for really old issues of National Geographic, so I can play around with this some more, Pollard style.
I have been mocking up some album art for Royalfuzz. I found a great image of an old Zenith radio dial, and thought it might look great spinning around on someones turn table.

The new Built to Spill album cannot be released soon enough. The two tunes that have been released, and which I have already purchased from the iTunes, are pretty kick ass. The artwork, thankfully, is the best cover art in years from these guys. They had some of the best cover art ever (Perfect From Now On and Keep It Like a Secret), to truly some of the most horrible cover art I have ever seen (You In Reverse and There is no Enemy).

I hope this Spill album will be able to get me out of the funk of disappointment that is the new Modest Mouse album. While the new MM has a handful of good songs, maybe 4. I was happy that Johnny Marr is no longer in the band (stop ruining my bands Marr! ie Cribs), it turned out Eric Judy leaving was a bigger deal than I expected. Another issue I have with the Mice, is that they seem to be in that mid And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead phase of their career. I miss the three piece. No one needs 9 band members, and two drummers.
