Capped off the last weekend of summer with a Built To Spill concert, a neighbourhood BBQ, and finally a caveman steak. I am ready for you Fall!
Just put together this little portrait of Built to Spill for my record shelf. I am way too entertained by this.
I have been obsessing over the Built to Spills all week. This tune especially. So good.
An awesome new video from the awesome new Built to Spill album. PICK IT UP! I did during this years Record Store Day. I tried hard to avoid spending money on that day, but I knew I wanted the new BTS which thankfully has the CD included inside of the record. I picked up the two new GBV reissues too.
This past Sunday finally felt like the first real day of spring. People were out, cars came out of storage, motorbikes were going 60 over the speed limit, and BBQs were fired up. I hit the folks for lunch, then went to Tonys to help him pick up and set up his new kick ass patio set. Beerce and chunes followed, and then a trip to the Ethyls patio for a beer with Bones and Tara. Once I got home I set up the backyard, got the lights up, and let I Hesher out for a bit who looked at that backyard like it was her first shot of heroin in 7 months.
I really cannot wait for the new Built to Spill
Made a fritatta
TBek Patio
Hesher was so fucking stoked to come out. I ended up having to jump the back fence into the parking lot of that factory to get Hesher. Little butthole.

The new Built to Spill album cannot be released soon enough. The two tunes that have been released, and which I have already purchased from the iTunes, are pretty kick ass. The artwork, thankfully, is the best cover art in years from these guys. They had some of the best cover art ever (Perfect From Now On and Keep It Like a Secret), to truly some of the most horrible cover art I have ever seen (You In Reverse and There is no Enemy).
These are great.
These are NOT great.
This is good. Kitties!
I hope this Spill album will be able to get me out of the funk of disappointment that is the new Modest Mouse album. While the new MM has a handful of good songs, maybe 4. I was happy that Johnny Marr is no longer in the band (stop ruining my bands Marr! ie Cribs), it turned out Eric Judy leaving was a bigger deal than I expected. Another issue I have with the Mice, is that they seem to be in that mid And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead phase of their career. I miss the three piece. No one needs 9 band members, and two drummers.
Wowee Zowee! New albums from The Cribs, The Modest Mice, the Built to Spills, the Faith No Mores....this is going to be a great year.
Check out the new music video from The Cribage.
It seems like the new GBV cover is the ugly step child to Built To Spill's Keep It Like A Secret album.
I decided to go to Beat Goes On to get two Supergass cds. While there I found that awesome Chavez set as well. Ned got it for me for Christmas a couple of years back and it kicks fucking ass. The problem is the DVD is currently misplaced. Seeing it for sale for 11 bucks, I found it hard to not pick it up, should that DVD never show up again. I guess the dude working there saw me getting Chavez and suggested I take a look at a new pile of CDs that was going to be put out. He said there were 300 cds and I should take a look. Whoever sold these CDs should be slapped. Pavement, Mogwai, Sebadoh, GBV, Pixies, etc etc etc. I wanted to buy half of them, and the other half I already owned. I managed, somehow, to get a hold of myself and only buy the 3 Built to Spill albums that I did not own. I am currently fighting the urge to go back and buy more.
I had no idea this EP existed. I guess the one dude from Built to Spill recorded a couple BTS songs as a new wave type band. Just drums and synths. Doug March came in and re recorded his vocals for these songs. Pretty interesting.
The song titles are kinda neat too, as they are anagrams of the original song titles.
The Electronic Anthology Project:
1. I Dim Our Angst In Agony (Goin’ Against Your Mind)
2. Age I Felt (Get A Life)
3. At The Where (The Weather)
4. Eels (Else)
5. What If Your Dull (I Would Hurt A Fly)
6. A Gloss Siren (Israel’s Song)
7. Far Path Tall Sign / (Things Fall Apart)
The BTS dude also has this pretty cool band called THE SUFFOCATION KEEP. Couple good tracks on this album too. Check it out if you dig The Spill.

Here you go Adrian....
This was always so hard to do so I told myself I have to make a top 10 list within 5 minutes. No over thinking. Its harder than it seems. Mainly beacause I keep looking at what is missing. At The Drive Ins "Relationship of Command", Refused's "The Shape of Punk To Come", Thin Lizzys "Fighting", Alice Coopers "Billion Dollar Babies" etc.
I am sure half of these will change in the near future.....maybe even tomorrow. However the top 3 have been those three for a good number of years now.
