Two mixed tapes that I made are currently on our coffee table for the season. One is the Silent Night Bastard Night VHS mixed tape, which is a collection of classic Christmas slashers. The other newly made tape is a cassette mix of Christmas Chunes.
Come on by to the Serpentine Pad on Christmas Eve for a listen, a watch and some pops!
I went to Far Out Flicks yesterday where I bought some $1 movies solely for their cases. I found 4 movies and paid 2 bucks for them, and two of those films were the big green clamshell versions of The Grinch. I thought the green would look great for an alternate cover, so I whipped this up today. This is a one off, and its probably just gonna stay with me.
I took the previous VHS art I made for this years JBTV Special, and did something new with it. I found several clear sheets of paper I bought for screen printing, and I decided to print out the art I made onto that, and beneath it I would put actual Christmas wrapping paper. The idea being that each tape (all 3 of them!!) would have its own unique cover art. Below are some photos of my first mock up. I am thinking of taking white out to the other side of the clear sheet to make the text more readable. I just cant find my white out.
UPDATE: I updated the artwork, which I think looks nicer. I removed the previous images that were here and have added the latest. Once I colour in some white spots with white out I will add those images as well, but for now this is what it looks like.
YET ANOTHER UPDATE:
I thought of another cool idea, where I would recreate Billy's drawing from Silent Night Deadly Night for the insert of this VHS. You will be able to see this image when you open up the VHS box.
Here is a screenshot from the film
I found a crayon Photoshop brush and redrew it. I put my name instead of Billy...natch.
Its here! Its done! Its glorious! I know, its early, but I had a 150GB folder on my computer that needed deleting so I had to just get this shit to tape and then be done with it. 8 full hours of bloody Christmas bliss. Below you will find a bunch of screenshots taken from the commercial segments, just to give you an idea of what is going on. The five films included on this tape are Silent Night Deadly Night, To All A Goodnight, Christmas Evil, Black Christmas and Don't Open 'Til Christmas. There are some other surprises but you need the tape for that.
