I found these two VHS gems from a Discogs dude from Kingston. They just arrived in the mail, and I am stoked to throw these in the next time Treephones visits.
Encore got in the Sonic Youth reissue of Experimental Jet Set... on the vinyls, and thankfully it was only 19 bucks. I would like to thank Geffen Records for not being a money hungry record label like all the others that charge 40 bucks for these reissues. Geffen holds a lot of the 90s classics, and I dont feel like paying over 30 bucks to own them again. Hole's Live Through This is cheap, the first two Weezer albums are affordable now, etc. Good on them.

Hesher the Grinch broke my new plant that Axl got me as a house warming present.
I have been taking slow motion footage over the course of the month with my iPhone 5s. I wanted to see what its like to edit using these types of files, so I used Hesher as my subject. The greatest kitty in the world.
My trusty jPod was on shuffle this morning during my morning commute, and Sonic Youth came on. This tune put a big goofy happy smile on my face. Fucking classic chune.
Tony, Eddie and I got into a conversation about what our favourite year for tunes was. I have always personally loved 1994 as some of my favourite albums and bands were putting out releases around that time. It helped that I was 12 years old, and everything I heard was blowing my mind at the time. Some of the classic albums that were put out that year came from bands like Nirvana, Pavement, Guided By Voices, Sebadoh, The Jesus Lizard, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Silver Jews, Nine Inch Nails, Beck, Beastie Boys, Change of Heart, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Folk Implosion, Hole, Green Day, Killjoys, Oasis, Offspring, Thrush Hermit, Weezer, Ween, Veruca Salt, etc.
Tony came up with the idea of listening to nothing but albums and songs from 1994 all weekend, and I am game. I woke up and threw on Crooked Rain, because I cannot think of a better song to open up a marathon of music from 1994 than with Silence Kit.
I made a pile of tunes that will be spinning at the Serpentine Pad all weekend.
I hit up the KW Record Show this year and found some gems. Sonic Youth, Parliament, the Cobra soundtrack, and a Hole single. I found the new Tomahawk single at Encore which fucking pumped me up, and I got the Pavement Trigger Cut single in the mail. Also, I got Brighten the Corners on cassette as well. All in all a great haul this weekend.
I got a sweet deal on frames for all those sweet ass Gig Posters Axl gave me. Laura also got her Pavement poster framed. Serpentine Pad is looking sweet!
So I was reading about the Pollard band The Takeovers and their album Bad Football. I had no idea that Tad Doyle of the mighty TAD plays on that album, as does the Mudhoney drummer...with some other dude named Stephen Malkmus or some shit. That totally got me excited to crank some TAD all day today. Given that today is around the time Kurt and Layne died as well, I may as well just crank some "grunge" all fucking day!! JOIN ME WONT YOU?!?!?
