Gary came up with a wicked idea of going to the original graveyard where the opening to Night of the Living Dead was filmed. We were as giddy as school children. It was so fucking cool being there.
I am getting giddy for this new album.
Take your Jesus Lizard cd, put it in your car, and turn up as loud as possible.

I cannot believe they are covering GBV. What the hell!?!?
I slaved over my computer the past two nights to finish the rough cut of my third part of my Fading Ragman Series. Clocking in at just over 53 minutes comes the latest GBV road trip epic. This time the weekend trip to Grand Rapids for two KILLER, if not the BEST GBV shows we have experienced. Arguably the biggest turnout for any GBV road trip, this video takes a look back at the amazing times and laughs that were had. First screening to take place in Pittsburgh PA one week from Today.
NOTE: The last 15 minutes of this movie could be released as Relaxation of the Asshole 3. Just saying.

This is so hilarious. A comedy of errors.
Following the Psycho Dog Man, I am totally sold on Australian news. I hope there is a DVD set for sale somewhere.

I laughed when I herd C'mon do an Osmonds cover on their new 10"...then I herd the song. Who knew Osmonds rocked??
Its been a Marble Valley kind of day. I have been listening to their 4 albums on shuffle for a good part of the day. Two things I really like are Pavement, and drinking/good times. So having Westie sing pretty much every song about the latter makes me a happy boy.
Go buy WILD YAMS. Killer album.

TWO MOGWAI RELEASES IN ONE YEAR?!?!? FUCK YAH!!!
"Earth Division" EP will be available on CD, 12" and Digital Download on September 12th on Rock Action and 13th September on Sub Pop for North America.
Having thus far enjoyed a monumental year, with a sold out world tour and the release of the superb and critically acclaimed 7th studio album, Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will, Mogwai are ready to embark upon another chapter. The band are set to release their Earth Division EP, which carries four brand new tracks, highlighting a creative departure from the band’s trademark cinematic mantra of pulverizing, scorched guitar riffage, into a more recontextualised domain of hazy electronic distortion, accompanied by spiky wafts of violins, violas, cellos and double bass and jagged keys.
Earth Division discretely demonstrates another side of Mogwai’s stratospheric level of brilliance with its ever-rotating, hypnotic soundtracks that drift dreamy into force, while adsorbing into the paranormal.
Earth Division is a collaboration of barded guitar distortion and haunting piano, which might offer the listener something different, but it still carries the band’s hallmarks.
Earth Division EP tracklisting//
1. Get To France.
2. Hound Of Winter.
3. Drunk And Crazy.
4. Does This Always Happen?
Earth Division will be released on CD, download and 12″

Mogwai are headlining at this month’s iTunes Festival, at the Roundhouse,London on 23rd July and they will also be appearing at the End Of The Road Festival on 3rd September, which sold out in record time.

Malkmosity is a word that describes a person's indieness. For example, if your favorite group is the Black Eyed Peas and you love polo shirts, you have low Malkmosity. If you hate the Black Eyed Peas now and say they were better in the 90's when they were an anti-gangsta rap group (but still didn't really like them, because they were not white and didn't play guitar) and you wear Buddy Holly glasses, you have high Malkmosity.
Coined by Dr. David Thorpe of Something Awful, Malkmosity refers to Pavement singer Stephen Malkmus. The reason being is Malkmus is the epitome of indie. He was a security guard before he recorded one of indie's seminal albums, Slanted & Enchanted, with his friend Spiral Stairs (Scott Kannberg) in the garage of their hippie drummer's house. His music is slightly off kilter pop with cryptic lyrics. (Example, "She's got the radioactive and it makes me feel okay" WTF?!) He is skinny, white, and plays guitar. He is indie.

High Malkmosity Guy: I snuck into a Dinosaur Jr./My Bloody Valentine show 21+ gig when I was fifteen in the early 90s.
Higher Malkmosity Guy: That's cool. I gave Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo, and Glenn Branca head in the early 80s.
No Malkmosity Guy: I kind of like music that the majority of the population has heard of.

Pissed Jeans are one of those "holy fuck Jesus Lizard are the best band on planet fucking earth" type bands. You can hear the influence, which is a damn good thing.

"I think I am getting second hand smoke from you"
"dont worry get me a drink sometime"
"dont worry get me a drink sometime"
Man! On the way out the door this morning I had this urge to listen to the Local Rabbits. Probably because Laura was just talking about them. I took the tape of their album YOU CANT TOUCH THIS to my car, and when I opened it I found one of my favorite concert momentos. It was a setlist of bands that played the very first concert I went to. Back in 1995 Tony and Ned bought me a ticket to Edgefest 3, which was nick named MurderFest, due to pretty much everyone on the MURDERecords roster being there. This was also Sloans "Last Show", before breaking up and then releasing One Chord a year later.
Being a kid OBSESSED with all things Murderecords, this was my dream show. Just look at these bands! Super Friendz, Change of Heart, Zumpano, Mystery Machine, Pluto, Hardship Post, Rusty, Jales, Thursh Hermit, Killjoys, Treble Charger, Local Rabbits, Monoxides, Stinkin Rich (aka Buck 65), and of course, Sloan.
I wish I could go back to that day. One of the best days ever. Who could forget Hardship Post still playing a show after their drummer left, and doing a KILLER, super slow/sloppy version of Coax Me. How about Thrush Hermit doing only Steve Miller songs? Or Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray running up to the lawns and opening the gates to bring what seemed like hundreds of people down to the mosh pit.
Man....those were the days.
