NB scored me this sweet GBV mug.  Cranked the new Sebadoh this morning while sipping from it.

The gods of indie rock had lined up a killer weekend for us this weekend.  Sebadoh and Guided by Voices have been a huge part of my life since high school, so seeing them back to back was pretty wild.  The only thing that was missing was a Pavement show on Sunday night.  Kurt came down for both shows!






Kruppa had his first GBV show as well this weekend, and here he is body surfing with Bobs approval.

Treephones' school has a new, smaller button maker now, so we made good use of it.  I sent him a couple of graphics to make into buttons.  Like a good pal, he dropped them off in my mailbox.  I like the GBV cat one he picked out as well. 

Its been 15 years since Jason Loewenstein released my favourite Sebadoh album, At Sixes and Sevens.  He has a new album this year, and I cannot wait.  This new tune wails.

I am thankful for being on the Joyful Noise mailing list, as I just got an email last week telling me that they have a new Jason Loewenstein 7" release, as well as a new album coming out!  I was talking to Kurt last week as well, asking him if there were any updates on the album on Jason's Facebook page.  There was not.


I ordered this minutes after getting that email, and it already arrived at my door.

I just got lost in a Lou Barlow YouTube vortex when I stumbled onto his own YouTube page, which had a new video uploaded last week, from Deluxx Folk Implosion.  Turns out there is a newly released LP from them of their old jams.  I had no idea this existed, but I am happy as fuck to have found it. Ordered one right away.

Fall is in full swing, and that means its time to Smash Your Head on the Punk Rock.  Ever since high school I always find myself going back to this Sebadoh album when fall is upon us.  That sweet lo-fi treble got me in the mood to bust out the most lo-fi album ever made, Time New Viking's Rip It Off.  These two are currently on rotation in the car.

Tony, Eddie and I got into a conversation about what our favourite year for tunes was.  I have always personally loved 1994 as some of my favourite albums and bands were putting out releases around that time.  It helped that I was 12 years old, and everything I heard was blowing my mind at the time.  Some of the classic albums that were put out that year came from bands like Nirvana, Pavement, Guided By Voices, Sebadoh, The Jesus Lizard, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Silver Jews, Nine Inch Nails, Beck, Beastie Boys, Change of Heart, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Folk Implosion, Hole, Green Day, Killjoys, Oasis, Offspring, Thrush Hermit, Weezer, Ween, Veruca Salt, etc.

Tony came up with the idea of listening to nothing but albums and songs from 1994 all weekend, and I am game.  I woke up and threw on Crooked Rain, because I cannot think of a better song to open up a marathon of music from 1994 than with Silence Kit.

I made a pile of tunes that will be spinning at the Serpentine Pad all weekend.

Sebadoh just released an amazing video for their single State of Mine off of their awesome new album.  I really like this video a lot, as it has some really great After Effects animations, and has a 50s collage look to it, which feels somewhat Pollardesque.  So cool.

Here is a bonus tune.  Final Days from the same album is probably one of my top 10 tunes from 2013, and one of the best Sebadoh tunes they have ever done.  It rocks.

I just got this today!  The 1995 Murder Records classic.  The 8th grader Johny is so jackt right now.  Also, the cassette store day copy of the latest GBV album.
