I did the walk of shame from the merch room, deflated, much like this video.
It was not until weeks and weeks later that merchlacky.com finally updated the Mogwai page and started to sell the same hoodie online. I spent almost 2 grand that week on car and computer payments so I did not buy it right away. I wanted to give it a day to make sure I would not have buyers guilt. That very night I looked at the site again and told myself "next week they will be sold out...I know it" so I bit the bullet and bought it. As soon as my payment for a large hoodie went through I went back to the site just to check. I hit the drop down menu for the hoodie sizes and Large was no longer an option. I GOT THE LAST ONE! FK YA!
The UPS was a whole other headache. The tracker told me the package would be at my house on Friday. I left for work that day at about 9:15. Once I got to work I checked my tracking number and see that they came to my door at 9:30, but could not leave it because of a COD charge.
Once I got home after work I see a note saying to leave a cheque for 25 bucks on the door for Monday. I was sad just because the weekend called for really cool/cold weather, and I had an outdoor party to attend Saturday. At around 630 I took off for about 20 minutes to pick up some things from my parents house. Once I got home there was a sheet in the door. THE UPS GUY HAD COME AGAIN!! Just my luck.
It was not until Monday, in the evening, when the package finally came. Thankfully it is 38 degrees today.
After a ten-year absence, it was a pretty big deal when pummelling post-punk monsters the Jesus Lizard announced their return in late 2008. The first American show took place on July 14, 2009, at Exit/In in Nashville, TN, and since you probably didn't make it out there for that, we're happy to report that the performance was documented on film.
Next month, the full set will be released on a DVD called Club. The film was directed by Matthew Robison and produced by Henry Owings of Chunklet. In addition to the visuals, the release will also include a digital download for the audio of the entire performance.
Club will be available on August 23 via MVD Entertainment. A trailer for the release is available below, along with a complete set list. More info on ordering is available here.

Thanks to Tonz for the heads up!
1) You get to see the world.
Eh....not really but you do get to enjoy the whole quality spectrum of dressing rooms around the world; from the sweaty cockroach ridden e-coli caves to the plush and shiny air conditioned miracles of human achievement.
2) The band loves to play with support bands that sound exactly like them.
Not at all. It's bad enough having to listen to your own brand of 3 chord miserable shite every single night without having to beforehand hear a slightly different version of it but with the difference that their drummer's snare drum is tuned up an extra 5 octaves and there are 6 bass players. Post Rock sucks.
3) The tour bus is AWESOME.
Well, if by awesome you mean the driver is an ex-military mega-racist that you dare make friends with; the onboard chemical toilet dungeon can only be used for pissing lest you invoke the rage of the aforementioned driver who will slash you with a dangerous hunting knife; and the bunk beds are like coffins and can often throw you out onto the gangway depending on how brave/drunk the driver is then yes, it is pretty awesome!
4) There's a lot of sex and that.
Actually there is none, not even with each other (anymore). Mogwai are for the most part quite well behaved though there are facets of mental-ness, but always fairly harmless. For example, I accidentally set fire to John's eyelashes the other night in a Japanese restaurant in Tokyo. It was very embarrassing for me and probably a bit scary for John. We are always amused when we hear stories about other bands and what they get up to so perhaps this isn't really a myth, it's just that we're unusual. Weirdos.
5) The band are the bosses.
Not when your Tour Manager (Simon Smith of the Wedding Present) is your Tour Manager. He's like a more angry Napoleon. I've seen Stuart hiding in a cupboard in tears just because he once tried to disobey Simon's instructions to clean the tour bus toilet and do the band's laundry. And one time when I played one wrong note at a concert he was so furious that he went around the stage pulling out all the plugs to the amplifiers and gave the crowd the finger when they started booing. He's dead hard.
I love my Barry.
"Hey its May 2011-- and we have some updates. Yeah, the new album is called "Mirror Traffic". There was a lot of deliberation on the album title front but in the end we went the cryptic route--for some reason "Madonna in Love" didnt swing it with the test market. FOr a long stretch when it was gonna be called "L.A. Guns", but with lawsuits flying left and right these days, I was talked off the ledge by cooler minds. This is bad form to talked about what might have been, Negative Hypnosis, but in the age of tell-all I thought I'd join in.
We recorded it with Beck over the last year. It took a while to finish due to "Life"--the actual "rock hours" were pretty reasonable........in fact 68% of the tracking, vocals included, took place on one day, a first for me. We pretty much left it all out there, so look for 50 minutes of tunage, 13 songs, and LOTS of good times.
Also, Janet Weiss is not with us anymore--over the last year she started Wild Flag .....its a growing concern--We couldn't hit the daily double. We wish her well in her future shredding. ...
THe silver lining --- Jake Morris of the Joggers and newly hatched Night Moves has assumed the throne, and it's a pretty swank fit. Look for us in all the usual places in September.
THats all for now. Thanks y'all
steve

RULES: I draw a cover to an album I like, but I can only use my memory and whatever pens or markers are available around me. I cannot look at the cover that I am drawing. I have to use whatever paper is available. I have to draw it as fast as possible. No more than 3 minutes or so.
I wanna hang with these people haha.

By Jeremy D. Larson on June 7th, 2011 in Check Out, News
The three-year wait for a new Malkmus tune has ended. The nothing-but-alt “Senator” is the first noise we’re hearing from the forthcoming Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks album Mirror Traffic.
