The Gothamist [via The Daily Swarm] reports that the Manhattan spot that was iconically featured on the cover of the Beasties' 1989 album Paul's Boutique went up in smoke sometime around 8:30 p.m. Luckily no injuries have been reported. However, it's unclear how much damage was caused by the fire, though according to one eye witness, "It just burned down."
Though forever linked to hip-hop's history, the building was currently operating as a restaurant called Three Monkeys. It's unclear whether or not the trio of simians are, in fact, brass monkeys.

Faith No More's Introduce Yourself is on right now. Holy fuck I love this record. Underrated and over shadowed by the mighty Patton, but I love this record just as much.

I swear I was gonna do this in honor of Mr King, and Gary beat me to it. The man who left his blog as baron as the Nevada desert, got to this before me. Well played sir.
Finally feel like a part of my adolescence is complete. I spent years looking at those Murderecords catalog booklets that came with Sloan albums and always wondered about that mysterious Hardship Post record. Now that I am 29 I finally got a copy. The sleeve is actually made of sand paper. Song is called "why don't you and I smooth things over". Oh the hilarity.
Anyhoo. One of the coolest sleeves this side of Acid Ranch.
