Ah, Record Store Day. One of my favourite days. Get up early, meet Tony and the kids for breakie. Get in line with the Orsos. Go into a packed Encore Records, and totally geek out. There wasn't a whole lot that I wanted from this years list, but the double LP of At The Drive-In's Relationship of Command (my top 10 of all time), and the Malkmus and friends made it worth it. I really had my eyes out for the Death Waltz singles and 12" but Encore didn't have them. Thankfully Popovich hooked me up from some store in Montreal and is sending them my way today! All and all a fun time. That being said, I hope and wish for a day when Encore is always that packed on any random day throughout the year. Best store in the world.
I spent all weekend sick on the couch. Late afternoon Saturday I got so bored that I forced myself to shower and go to my sweet sweet Encore. My intention was to get the new Tomahawk album. Walk in and I dont see it on the new rack. I look up and the first thing I see is At The Drive-In's VAYA ep on the wall. I was so pumped. I had been looking for it for a while. I go pick it up, and then make my way to their vinyl rack. First thing that caught my eye was Guided By Voices' Biefcase 1. Jaw dropped. I did a double take. I picked it up and could not believe it. STILL IN THE PLASTIC!!! 25 BUCKS!!!
There are only 1000 of these made, and have been impossible to find for the hardcore GBV fans. There is one on eBay right now going for $110. What a steal!
Every once in a while you hit a record store and find something that blows your fucking mind. This was one of those days.
I also hit Far Out Flicks and picked up The Blues Brothers and Reform School Girls.

Two of my favorite albums in my OAC year at St Marys was Relationship of Command by ATDI, and Shape of Punk To Come by Refused. Both albums are still in my top 10 of all time. This year they are both back. Unreal.
This was always so hard to do so I told myself I have to make a top 10 list within 5 minutes. No over thinking. Its harder than it seems. Mainly beacause I keep looking at what is missing. At The Drive Ins "Relationship of Command", Refused's "The Shape of Punk To Come", Thin Lizzys "Fighting", Alice Coopers "Billion Dollar Babies" etc.
I am sure half of these will change in the near future.....maybe even tomorrow. However the top 3 have been those three for a good number of years now.
