OH MAN!!! I dont know how I missed this news, but there is a brand new Chavez EP out in January. This is the greatest thing to happen all year. I love you Matadors.
Two of my favourite albums ever are being reissued by the always wonderfully smelling Matador Records. These two fucking albums are gems, start to finish. Big day today, big day.

Matador Records just posted this photo on the Instagrams saying "the people have spoken." I may totally be reading into this, but I am going to take it as these are the master tapes to their two incredible albums, which will be rereleased on vinyl. I have been waiting so long for this day, as I refused to pay the high prices of the original releases.
In other Chavez news, the new show Silicon Valley, which I already love, used a Chavez song in its pilot episode. I just found out now that the Chavez guitarist actually writes for the show!
Almost every time I go to the folks place, I dig through my boxes in the basement to see what I can find. Yesterday I took home my Robert Pollard coffee table book, my favourite Rosie Jones Loaded issue (Aug 2010), a Chavez poster, another Jicks poster, and this, the advanced copy of the now classic album from The Illuminati. So glad to see this is in such good shape after almost 10 years.
The Bronx released a new video from their new album. While a good video, and the song kicks ass, it just reminds me too much of the far more amazing, and VERY similar video that Chavez put out back in the 90s.
This weekend was pretty fun for the simple fact that we did almost nothing. After a couple of big trips, and a broken car, I needed a weekend off from spending. Friday night Jim, Jess, Dave and Kate came and hung out with Laura and I. Drinks and patio and firepit and tunes.
Saturday we finally got a BBQ. The big issue however, was that the box would not fit in the clown car. I had the bright idea of opening the box at the store and putting in all the pieces of the BBQ into my car. The problem is we sliced our hands open on the sharp metal edge of the BBQ. We got it home though, so that is good.
I got more patio lights.
I ate watermellon and watched old 90210 episodes on Netflix. Valerie Malone, my first true love.
Took almost two fkn hours, but the BBQ is now up and running.

After talking to Nick in Pitts about the bands Love and Death, I got all jackt and threw on my Death vinyl. Good rock record.
I cranked Chavez. These are the days I am happy there is no one living below us anymore.
I also got some vinyl in the mail. The Men 7" from the Matador Singles Club, as well as another Discogs.com find, On Top by Rye Coalition. INCREDIBLE album. I cannot believe I found it for 8 bucks. So happy.
Every once in a while I will throw on a digital mixed tape. Tunes that have been getting me jackt. New and old. Whatever. Download it. Buy the ones you dig. Or dont download it. Oh well, whatever, nevermind.
I decided to go to Beat Goes On to get two Supergass cds. While there I found that awesome Chavez set as well. Ned got it for me for Christmas a couple of years back and it kicks fucking ass. The problem is the DVD is currently misplaced. Seeing it for sale for 11 bucks, I found it hard to not pick it up, should that DVD never show up again. I guess the dude working there saw me getting Chavez and suggested I take a look at a new pile of CDs that was going to be put out. He said there were 300 cds and I should take a look. Whoever sold these CDs should be slapped. Pavement, Mogwai, Sebadoh, GBV, Pixies, etc etc etc. I wanted to buy half of them, and the other half I already owned. I managed, somehow, to get a hold of myself and only buy the 3 Built to Spill albums that I did not own. I am currently fighting the urge to go back and buy more.
This was always so hard to do so I told myself I have to make a top 10 list within 5 minutes. No over thinking. Its harder than it seems. Mainly beacause I keep looking at what is missing. At The Drive Ins "Relationship of Command", Refused's "The Shape of Punk To Come", Thin Lizzys "Fighting", Alice Coopers "Billion Dollar Babies" etc.
I am sure half of these will change in the near future.....maybe even tomorrow. However the top 3 have been those three for a good number of years now.
Framed some more shit. Chavez, which might be the cheesiest poster ever...in a good way. A Trail of Dead poster Ned got me years ago, and a hand screen Constantines poster from 2001. Room is lookin good.
What in the fuck?!?! Just reading up on Matt Sweeny (the guitarist from one of the best bands ever CHAVEZ.) Turns out he has a band now with Andrew W.K.?!?! Its just the two of them playing guitar. WHAT IN THE FUCK>!?!?!
