April Ghouls 2014 Weekend

Before I knew it, April Ghouls weekend was here.  I drove down to Gary's on the Thursday before the festivities in order to get settled in and not rush on Friday.  We kicked back with booze, snacks, and some classic flicks.  Nick made a surprise appearance which pumped me up.

THURSDAY:

FRIDAY:
We got up Friday morning, and we were pretty jackt for the day.  We hit up some wicked bagel shop, then watched some Classic Cormans before it was time to go.

It rained for most of the day which made putting up the text quite the ordeal.  Since my feet were soaked for most of the night, my core temperature never really went up, even with 7 layers.   Regardless we had a killer time watching The Town that Dreaded Sundown, Carrie, Susperia and The Hills Have Eyes.

I did have a little power nap during Carrie, but once that film finished around 1:30, we downed some coffee and we were back.  We got a little shitty and had a blast laughing with The Hills Have Eyes.  Bed came at 5am, and the morning sun woke us up around 8am.

SATURDAY:
We got up bright and early on Saturday, mostly because of the hot sun.  Tripod had to go to work for a bit and would rejoin us later on in the evening, and Jess too had to get back to work.  That left Gary and I to do some running around.  Mostly for breakfast and a heater.

The flicks this night were just as amazing, and I now have a whole new love for Phantasm.  So great.

Gary had this awesome idea of buying a patio heater for what will be a freezing night.  Google Maps sent us to this hardware store.  We kept driving.
Gary's iPhone battery was dying.

We had the most insane wind periods.  30mph at times.

At 4am the previous night we thought up of this plan with tarps between the two vans.  Fire pit and all.  This is how it turned out.  Warm as a motherfucker.

Seeing a 35mm print of Halloween at the Drive In is pretty damn amazing.

Toasty.

I found this great blog post recapping the weekend.  Some awesome pictures too.  Head to Groovy Dooms blog to check it out.

The following pictures are not mine, but I love them and wanted to post them here.  Please check the April Ghouls Drive In Facebook to find more from where these came from.
